Nokia And Kodak Team Up

Nokia And Kodak Team Up

Nokia has signed a patent license agreement with Kodak, with will allow some sharing of intellectual properties between the 2 companies. Details of this are a little sketchy at the moment, but it was also mentioned that all royalty bearing will head in Kodak’s direction. Hopefully this deal will help Nokia break the 5 megapixel barrier and bring out some phones with 8 megapixel cameras or more.

Nokia Musical Park Bench

Nokia Musical Park Bench

Nokia takes marketing to the next level with the Nokia Musical Park Bench. There will be a bunch of benches secretly placed all over the UK, and each bench will feature three Nokia handsets and headphones installed into the arm rests. Depending on where you are, the playlist will differ to cater to various regions’ favorites thanks to a survey held by Nokia. More musical savvy folks will realize that Liverpool’s list will have more Beatles songs compared to Birmingham, which will feature Black Sabbath instead. Each bench comes with a live performer, so you can forget about stealing those phones (or even benches, for that matter).

AT&T Offers Nokia 2600 For Free

AT&T Offers Nokia 2600 For Free

AT&T will be making available the Nokia 2600 for next to nothing, as long as you agree to sign a two-year contract with the mobile carrier. The Nokia 2600 has been around since the beginning of the year already, so it is rather surprising to see it hit the US via AT&T only now. Specifications include :-

  • Dual band GSM/GPRS connectivity, 850/1900MHz
  • 128 x 128 pixels TFT display
  • Web browser and MEdia Net
  • Email, Instant Messaging
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • MP3 ringtones
  • Hands-free speakerphone
  • VGA camera

This is but a basic phone at most, since there isn’t even an expansion memory card slot of sorts at all. You can choose from black or red colors.

Nokia Announces the Musical Bench [Advertising]

Nokia may rule a large portion of the worldwide cellphone market, but you know, with the economy and everything, it never hurts to diversify. Nokia is setting up musical benches throughout the UK to promote their Comes With Music audio service, each featuring three integrated handsets with headphones to sample music.

The track lists are said to mirror the region where each individual bench was deployed, with the Beatles dominating Liverpool but Black Sabbath representing Birmingham. But while you’s expect the benches to be stolen/destroyed/soiled immediately, each will feature the close supervision of a security guard, along with the presence of one “performer” (which kind of defeats the purpose of the headphones, no?).

So sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite songs…while closely scrutinized for deviant behavior and hanging out with some musician who is probably only moderately more tolerable than a Greenpeace donations collector. But hey, at least you’ll know that no one peed in the headphones.

That’s my take, at least. Would you be tempted take a seat? [musicradar]

Dual SIM Samsung S9502 Duos leaks, hits on Nokia 8800 Arte

Photos of the first dual SIM-enabled luxurious handset leaked online. The hand-crafted Samsung S9402 Duos relies on exquisite materials and great build-quality to impress potential buyers. The rhodium-plated body is resistant to almost any kind of mechanical damage and disruption and is among the most expensive precious metals.

In addition to the attractive looks and quirky name the Samsung S9402 will have a 262K color OLED display and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. The network data transfers will have to go through GPRS or EDGE on both SIM cards since the new Duos has no support for 3G networks.

The internal memory of Samsung S9402 Duos is 1GB and can be expanded further through the microSD card slot. The list of features of the handsets is completed by USB and Bluetooth (v 2.0).

The new Duos handset will first hit the shelves in Russia but neither the exact date nor the price is yet known. However, rumor has it that it will directly compete with Nokia Arte phones and Motorola Aura, so you might expect a price tag of about 1000 euro.

BlueMaemo Turns Your Nokia Tablet Into a Wireless Mouse, Keyboard [Input Devices]

Usually, the only reason we use the keyboards on internet tablets is because we can’t get to a more comfortable input device. Still, if you want to turn that on your head, here’s a beta application for Nokia Internet Tablets (the N800 and N810 specifically) that let you use them as a keypad and mouse for your main computer. BlueMaemo uses Bluetooth and works with Windows XP, Vista and Linux BlueZ. I guess it could be fun for freaking out anyone who’s using your desktop at the time. Can anyone say awesome Halloween prank? [JK on the Run]

Nokia E63 pops-up, will be cheaper than E71

On and on, the Nokia E63 becomes a less mysterious device with the latest leak of details and decent photos. The rumored device will run on the Symbian v9.1, S60 v3.1 and will have a full QWERTY keyboard. Most importantly, however, it will be more affordable than its sibling Nokia E71.

Much of the information for the E63 comes from a public XML file to be found on the Nokia servers itself. The main characteristics of the phone include HSDPA support, QVGA 256K TFT display, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm AV jack, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and 2 MP camera.

If you are addicted to the solid metal looks of Nokia E71, the new star will be less attractive to you, as it is solely made of plastic. Other important piece of information reveals that the Nokia E63 will come in three variants: the E63-1 for Europe, the E63-2 will be camera-free for the corporate users, and E63-3 version for the American market.
