Orange Denies iPhone 3G Fake Queue

While people are still laughing at Orange for hiring people to line up at Polish Orange stores to make it seem like the iPhone 3G was more in demand that in actually was in Poland, Orange has come out and denied reports saying that they did such a thing. A spokesperson for Orange has said that âsome of Orangeâs team had joined customers outside the shopsâ, and also mentioned that âsales were strongâ. Whether you want to believe what Orange is saying is entirely up to you, though Orange would obviously like you to believe their version of the story.

BlackBerry Storm Box Spotted

If you think that Verizon is confused and accidently printed âStormâ over âThunderâ, think again. While they sure sound like they belong together, it seems like the BlackBerry Thunder will be known as the 9350 Storm over at Verizon, while the âThunderâ name will be used by Rogers. The Storm will feature an 8GB SanDisk microSD card, which isnât the largest card around, but it should be more than enough for most users. Whatever they decide to call it, as long as itâs released quickly and without any problems, users shouldnât have much to complain about.

iPhone 3G Security Flaw

An iPhone security flaw has been found which can allow other people to bypass the built-in passcode protection, which is supposed to lock your iPhone away from prying eyes. The trick to bypass the lock is simple enough, which just involves a couple of taps on the iPhone, which might hint that it was supposed to be a feature, not a bug. Once the security has been bypassed, the intruder will be able to access your contacts list, SMS, mail, and even Safari. Apple has supposedly been notified of this security flaw, and a fix for it should be issued in a future firmware update. Until an official fix is found, userâs can prevent this by setting their âHome Buttonâ double-click preference to âHomeâ or âiPodâ, instead of the default, which is âiPhone Favoritesâ.

Bluetooth Marketing Spam Is OK

The U.S. based Mobile Marketing Association has declared that unsolicited Bluetooth spam is OK, based on its published guidelines. The reason is that devices which are left âdiscoverableâ are opting to receive pushed advertisements. The UKâs Direct Market Association thinks otherwise, and believes that consumers should consciously decide to opt-in to receiving advertisements before they are sent any. Either way, if youâre not fond of Bluetooth spam, the best way to avoid it at the moment will be to disable your phoneâs âdiscoverableâ option.

iPhone Security Flaw Exposed
A flaw in the iPhone’s software can allow anyone to bypass the password-locking feature of the phone and get access to the phone’s Favorites menu. Once in the Favorites menu, other parts of the iPhone can be accessed, such as Mail, Safari and SMS. This flaw negates the password-lock feature and exposes user data to anyone with knowledge of the method used to get past the password lock. A temporary solution has been discovered. In the iPhone’s Settings menu, click on “General”, then click on “Home Button”, then click on either “Home” or “iPod”. Choosing one of these two options will prevent anyone from accessing the Favorites menu, and keep most user data safe. [Via This article]
